By investigating the body, Davi Pontes conveys, in his practice, the constant challenge of positioning choreography as a response to its own onto-epistemological conditions — politically attending to the conditions in which it is being executed. The artist has dedicated his practice to dive deeper into the concepts of raciality, choreography, self-defense, and their workings through the idea of an archive that is contained in the production of history.
Davi Pontes graduated from Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) and is pursuing a master’s degree with the graduate art program (Estudos Contemporâneos das Artes) at the same institution. He studied at Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo — ESMAE (Porto, Portugal). Since 2016, he has shown his work in art galleries and festivals in Brazil and abroad.
