Breathe – Milla Koistinen

A solo dance performance on a vast football pitch replicates images from collective events and plays with the distance and absence of surrounding bodies.

*Presented as a Double Bill with Fluids -WAUHAUS + Sõltumatu Tantsu Lava

Breathe evokes the sensation and memory of collective events, celebratory joy, ecstasy and the individual within a crowd. A solo performer on a vast football pitch replicates images from collective events and plays with the distance and absence of surrounding bodies.

The large empty outdoor space with solid geometrical forms has been the source of inspiration to Milla Koistinen’s collaboration with Sandra E. Blatterer, Paul Valikoski and Grégoire Simon. As the audience is invited to shift viewing positions within the empty sports stadium, the performer plays with tipping points between perceived states and the porous relationship between distance and closeness, control and chaos, togetherness and estrangement. Breathe invites the audience to revisit memories of collective euphoria and joy.
