Slipping, sliding, tumbling, majestically gliding through space. Welcome to a space where even standing up is difficult, working with the body needs constant re-configuration and virtuosity as you knew it is thrown out of the window.
W A U H A U S member, choreographer Jarkko Partanen introduces you to the slippery conditions their upcoming piece FLUIDS. In the workshop we will try out how it is to move in a space where friction is removed. While lube brings restriction to everyday actions we search what kind of new physicality it enables.
Workshop is open for movers, dancers, performers, students and professionals. Please bring your own towel, a swimsuit & clothes which can get wet.
Moving in lube is difficult. This workshop is suitable for people with good core strength who are comfortable with an element of risk. The workshop is open to people of all ages. Preference will be given to LGBTQ+ queer, trans, genderfluid and non-binary people.
This workshop has a limited capacity of 10 participants. Applications are accepted on a first-come-first-served basis. Please only register on Eventbrite if you are certain you wish to take part.
The workshop will take place in a dance studio at University of Salford. Participants will gather in the foyer of New Adelphi Theatre and be escorted to the venue. General access information for New Adelphi Theatre is available at this link.
