Founded in Bristol, Submerge Festival was a biennial celebration of experimental, international and boundary-pushing artistic practice. Across three editions between 2016 and 2022, the festival brought together artists from around the world, presenting ambitious work in theatres, galleries, clubs, public spaces and unexpected places. After relocating to Manchester, Submerge continued to champion innovative artistic practices and create opportunities for artists and audiences to encounter extraordinary work. Although the festival is no longer active, its spirit of experimentation, curiosity and creative risk-taking continues to inform Submerge’s work today.
