Creative Producing

ABOUT SUBMERGE
Creative Producing 💦 Extraordinary Art ⛲
Submerge is a Manchester-based creative producing organisation bringing ambitious artistic ideas to life in public spaces and unexpected places. Working with artists, communities and cultural partners, we develop and produce imaginative projects that connect people, places and ideas, transforming how we experience the world around us.
We are interested in the possibilities of art beyond conventional venues and settings: in overlooked spaces, unusual locations and the everyday environments we share. We believe these places can become sites of discovery, encounter and extraordinary creative experiences.
WHAT WE DO
Creative Producing
We work with artists to develop ideas, realise ambitious projects and bring new work into the world. From early creative development and commissioning to production and delivery, we help turn imaginative ideas into reality.
Art in Unexpected Places
We are interested in what happens when art moves beyond traditional cultural spaces. We explore the creative potential of public spaces, found environments and unusual locations, creating opportunities for people to encounter art in unexpected ways.
Artist Development
We champion ambitious artistic practice, working alongside artists to develop ideas, experiment with new approaches and realise work that might otherwise remain unexplored. We value curiosity, creative risk-taking and the freedom to push boundaries.
Partnerships and Collaboration
We bring together artists, organisations, communities, venues and other partners to make things happen. We believe the most interesting projects often emerge through unexpected collaborations, shared ambitions and bringing different perspectives together.
HOW WE WORK
Submerge is driven by curiosity, imagination and a willingness to take creative risks. We are drawn to ideas that challenge expectations, make connections and find new possibilities in the places and spaces around us.
We take a collaborative approach to producing, working closely with artists and partners to navigate the practical, creative and logistical challenges of making ambitious work happen.
We are particularly interested in projects that respond to their surroundings, engage with the world beyond traditional arts settings and offer audiences something unexpected.
OUR BACKGROUND
Submerge grew out of a passion for experimental artistic practice and the possibilities of bringing extraordinary work to new audiences and places.
For many years, Submerge produced a biennial international festival in Bristol and Greater Manchester, presenting boundary-pushing artists and work across unconventional venues and settings. That history continues to inform our approach: a belief in artistic experimentation, international perspectives, collaboration and the transformative potential of art.
Today, Submerge builds on that legacy through creative producing, artist commissions and ambitious projects in public spaces and beyond.
